Lindenhurst resident David O’Brien, 19, pleaded guilty in Riverhead to all charges in a 17-count indictment on Friday, May 24, including aggravated vehicular homicide for his role in the 2017 crash that killed Joseph Galdorisi, 16 and Maggie Miller, 24.
Prosecutors had recommended that O’Brien receive a five to 15-year sentence, but as part of the plea, he is expected to receive between four and 12 years behind bars.
In court, O’Brien admitted he was speeding and driving his 1998 Ford Mustang recklessly and under the influence on Oct. 9 two years ago when he crashed into a tree on North Wellwood Avenue in Lindenhurst.
Galdorsi was pronounced dead at the scene. Maggie Miller, who was in the backseat at the time of the crash, died hours later at an area hospital. The investigation would later determine that O’Brien was driving at least 50 mph in a posted 30 mph zone when he struck the tree
O’Brien will remain free on a $75,000 bail until his sentencing on July 19.
